Coming up in October we have The Northern International Livestock Exposition in Billings, Montana.
Wendesday, October 14; Move in. Thursday, October 15: a conformation clinic @ 9:00 am. Friday, October 16: show @ 3:00 pm. There will be more information on the web site soon.
We have already had our meetings for The National Western for 2010. Class format has been set and the selection of our Judge is underway by the National Western.
I would like to take this opportunity to explain why there is no Junior Show in Denver. The National Western has a policy that you must be nine (9) years of age to show cattle in Denver. This was a policy set for liability reasons and it also follows the 4H mandates. You must be 8 years of age by January of the year you join 4H and that means the junior would have had a year of show experience before showing at the National Western. Any junior 9 years of age may show in our open show at The National Western. They have, and they have won over the adults. I would certainly encourage any of our members with children 9 and older to have them show in our open show. Just an aside, most of those kids know more about showing an animal than us adults.
Don’t forget Billings in October and Denver in January!
